Gigantum

The Gigantum User Hub

Welcome to the Gigantum user hub. You'll find comprehensive guides and documentation to help you start working with the Gigantum platform as quickly as possible. If you get stuck, then there is help for that too.

Let's get to it!

Get Started

Client Interface Fails to Load

When the Gigantum Client is not running (e.g. it has been stopped, is in a failed state) but you still have the web UI open in your browser, you'll see an error page that looks like the image below.

Here are a few simple steps to try that should get you back to a working state.

Start the Gigantum Client

It's possible that you have simply just stopped the Gigantum Client. To get working again, simply start the client.

If you are a Gigantum Desktop user, just start the app and the UI will automatically re-load once the client has started.

If you are a Gigantum CLI user run gigantum start in your terminal and the UI will automatically re-load once the client has started.

Restart the Gigantum Client

If the client is running but still not working, the first thing to try is to restart the client. This operation stops all Gigantum managed Docker containers and restarts the Client container.

If you are a Gigantum Desktop user, click the Restart button from the menu.

Click 'Restart' button to restart the Gigantum Client

If you are a Gigantum CLI user, you'll need to stop the client and then start it again using the following commands.

gigantum stop
gigantum start

Restart Docker

If you are still having trouble, its probably that Docker is in a failed state. To fix this, try stopping the Gigantum Client, restarting Docker, and then starting Gigantum again.

Stop the Gigantum Client

If you are a Gigantum Desktop user, click the Quit button from the menu. This will close all Gigantum related containers.

If you are a Gigantum CLI user simply run gigantum stop.

Restart Docker

Depending on your operating system and how you installed Docker, there are several ways to restart. For most Desktop users on macOS and Windows, you can simply click the Restart button in the Docker menu. Alternatively you can quit the Docker app and restart it as well.

For linux users, typically the Docker daemon is run as a service and the command to restart this service depends on how it has been installed. A universal method is to simply reboot your computer, or you can try the commands below.

sudo systemctl restart docker
sudo service docker restart

Start Gigantum Client

If you are a Gigantum Desktop user, just start the app and the UI will automatically re-load once the client has started.

If you are a Gigantum CLI user run gigantum start in your terminal and the UI will automatically re-load once the client has started.

Hard Refresh Your Browser

If you installed Gigantum before version 0.9.0 (prior to June 27 2018) you may need to hard refresh your browser. This is due to an issue with browser caching that can stop your browser from loading the latest changes to the UI. This has since been fixed.

If you don't know how to clear or bypass your browser cache, checkout this Wikipedia article that covers most browser types: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Bypass_your_cache

Post to the Discussion Board for Help
